Microblogging

**Microblogging** is a form of blogging characterized by short, frequent posts, often used for sharing updates about personal activities or thoughts. It’s a more casual and immediate form of communication compared to traditional [[blogging]]. Microblogging platforms allow users to post content such as short sentences, individual images, or video links.[1] The increasing popularity of microblogging platforms is often attributed to the widespread of smartphones that allow users to share anything instantly.[2]
## Microblogging on Hive The first and only (as of June 15, 2024) dedicated microblogging [[Hive]] [front-end](/wiki/Front-end) is [[D.Buzz]], launched on May 19, 2020, by @chrisrice, @nathansenn, and their team.[3] D.Buzz allows users to share content of up to 280 characters and was originally intended to simplify sharing content from Twitter (X). Unlike more recent microblogging Hive tools, D.Buzz shares content as a [[root post]].[4] [[Threads]], the microblogging platform by [[Inleo]] (formerly Leofinance), was launched on July 19, 2022.[5] As of June 2024, it is the most frequently used platform for short content on Hive, generating hundreds of threads per day. However, some Threads are published by dedicated bots that parse and share articles from outside Hive. [[Ecency]] launched its microblogging interface [[Decks]] on May 25, 2023. Decks allow users to share and interact with [[Waves]], the native microblogging format of the Ecency front-end. Besides, Decks allow cross-platform interactions with Inleo Threads and D.Buzz content.[6] Unlike D.Buzz posts, Threads, and Waves are comments under a root post, called a [[container]], published by a dedicated account. They don’t appear on users’ blogs. ## References 1. Wikipedia Microblogging https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microblogging 2.
